After installing VirtualBox on my Ubuntu machine, it wouldn’t allow USB device access (trying to use Windows in a Virtual Machine). This site has a quick How-To with pictures to add your user to the group needed for the USB device mapping.
Simple instructions: Add your userid to the “vboxusers” group and log out/back in to refresh the security settings.
